AIM
Elementary students will utilize our program to
- » Be self directed learners, work well with others, think and solve problems effectively, recognize and do quality work which reflects creativity, high standards, and the use of technology.
Objective
- 1. To help each student master important subject matters, learn to think critically and creatively, understand the values and traditions which exist in the global society, and develop a sense of personal and community responsibility.
- 2. To nurture children, provide stimulating learning environments, and support parents.
- 3. To assist students to achieve identified standards in reading, Languages, Math, Science and Technology.
- 4. Students will demonstrate behaviors that reflect physical, social and emotional development.
Elementary Academic Curriculum
The following subjects are taught in the school program:
Those subjects are taught through integrated thematic instruction which is based on best teaching strategies. The following is a brief description of the curriculum in each subject area.
Islamic Studies and Quraan
An enriched program will be taught to the students .Simplified Classical Arabic is the language of communication inside and outside the classrooms with the Arabic staff. A special emphasis will be given to Quraan recitation and Islamic values which will be applied in the daily routines of the students.
Language arts and reading (English and Arabic)
The school will utilize an American oriented curriculum (Scott Forsman Pearson ).
Students will Think, Read, and Write (T. R. W.)
The program consists of reading, writing, oral and visual communicattion. Students will use the writing process , including prewriting (idea web), responding, revising, editing and publishing. They will express their idea, feeling and thoughts, as well as creative writing. They will use some materials from other media to enhance their writing. They will use correctly the conventions (Spelling, grammar, and punctuation,etc.) correctly. Such learning is accomplished within the context of student’s own writing.
Students will emerge from readiness to read to successful readers who enjoy reading a variety of simple written materials. They will read inddependently using reading strategies appropriate for their grade level. The program includes a variety of poetry and short stories designed to appreciate literacy.
Students will learn to use words and oral language structure, non-verbbal communication skills, group skills and media communication skills. This will result in a successful confident communicator.

English Mathematics
The Math curriculum is a process through which students investigate and acquire knowledge of numbers and sense of numeration, pattering and algebra, geometry and spatial sense, data management and probability. A basic goal of the program is that Math is a hands-on experience of the program. It is a system of thinking that connects students to the order in our life. A wide range of resources will be used to give the students an opportunity to experience progress from the concrete to the abstract.
Science
It’s a curriculum that depends on exploration and experimentation to fulfill the nature curiosity in children. It will guide them to explore their environment, understand it then be able to make informed choices in their lives.
Themes that will be taught are: Life Systems, Matter and Materials, energy and Control, Structures and Mechanisms, Earth and space systems. Resource equipment kits, software programs, transparency, picture cards,etc.) will be used at each grade level.
Social studies (English and Arabic )
The curriculum prepares students to be citizens of the world. They will learn about their country Kuwait and the world. They will understand the social criteria, geography, history and environment of different regions of the world gradually, according to their grade level. Maps, globes, and software programs are used extensively to develop their understanding of the world. Advanced grades may join teleconferences to learn about the world, also they may have pen pals with the supervision of their caring teachers.
P.E
This program is designed to develop fundamental movement skills and active participation. The subject will revolve around activities such as basic movement skills, games and sports, gymnastics and aquatics.These activities will provide strength and fitness throughout life. A well’equipped gym will serve our students during P.E. classes.
Rhymes
It is an enjoyable subject that is added to reinforce English language through songs and rhymes. Also students will practice stage performance to build their self-esteem and confidence.
I.T
In a rapidly changing world, empowering children with IT becomes a core need rather than an entertainment activity. Students will learn computer operation, curriculum support, multimedia, and research and information literacy. Studdents
will demonstrate responsible use of technology systems, information and software. They will develop program navigation skills, and use keyboard and mouse. They will use the computer program to enhance their learning and use developmentally appropriate multimedia resources to find information, graphiing and record observations. At a higher grade level they will use the computer to produce multimedia presentation including sound, images and text.
Art
It is a program that reinforces the themes that are studied in Engllish language and develop students’ abilities to understand and creaate visual arts. Students will use different materials and techniques to produce original work of arts and crafts work. Multimedia is used to provide samples and models.
Character Education
A specific instructional program in life, health and fitness education. It is sequentially planned to cover the following topics: study habits, personal and emotional growth and development, safety, nutrition and fitness, Islamic and international values. It includes wide spectrum of activities and practical lessons. Puppets, class discussion, role plays and videos are used to understand concepts.
Talented and gifted program
The aim of this program is to expand the academic attainments, intellectual skills, social and leadership skills of students who are thought to be mentally gifted. Students will be assessed by committee of the principal, teachers, counselor, in addition to, parent’s comments and interview.
